CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL SEED TREATMENTS FOR ELIMINATING TOMATO PITH NECROSIS CAUSED BY PSEUDOMONAS VIRIDIFLAVA

Authors:   H.N. Yildiz, Y. Aysan, O. Cınar
Abstract:
In the present study sodium hypocloride (at 1%), HCl in 0.6 M concentration, 8 hydroxyqunoline (at 0.5-1%), cooper acetate (at 0.2%), streptomycine (at 50 and 100 ppm) and bronopol besides this hot water treatments (at 50 and 55°C) were tested for their capacity in elimination the inoculum of the seedborne pathogen Pseudomonas viridiflava from tomato seeds. All treatments eliminated P. viridiflava from seeds effectively. These treatments had an average germination rate of 86% (range of 76% to 96%) compared to 96% for untreated seeds. 8 hydroxyqunoline treatment caused decline and detention on tomato seed germination.
