Keywords:   cut flower, municipal solid waste, manure, fertilization
Abstract:
The study was conducted to investigate the effects of compost applications including organic material on yield and quality characteristics of cut flower A. coronaria L. ‘Red Meron’ grown in plastic greenhouse under Mediterranean conditions. Three application doses of compost (20, 40, and 80 t ha-1) and a control plot having no compost were tested by mixing with the greenhouse soil. The effect of compost applications on vegetative growth parameters such as stem length and stem diameter, and yield was statistically significant. The best results were obtained by 80 t ha-1 compost application in terms of total yield and flower quality and this was followed by 40 t ha-1, 20 t ha-1 and control plot.
