FIRE BLIGHT FORECASTING MODEL OPTIMISATION IN A USER-FRIENDLY ONLINE INTERFACE

Authors:   B. Duffy, B. Schoch, J. Vogelsanger, E. Holliger, E. Moltmann
Keywords:   disease forecasting model, Erwinia amylovora, fire blight, Maryblyt
Abstract:
Fire blight caused by Erwinia amylovora is a major threat to pome fruit production (e.g., apple, pear) in Europe. Several forecasting models have been developed that enable producers to predict high-risk infection dates based on weather patterns and to estimate the onset of symptoms for efficient implementation of monitoring and eradication measures. Output of the most widely used model, Maryblyt™ was modified to develop an online interface that improves end-user access to daily forecasting data.
