Abstract:
The production of electricity by biogas driven power plants is always combined with a considerable amount of reject heat which could be recollected by heat exchangers and used for CO2 neutral greenhouse heating.
The useable reject heat should be exploited as far as possible without using a peak load heating system.
Objective of the analysis is the simulation of the heat consumption of a single glass greenhouse, equipped with a double layer energy screen, with one layer of a clear polyethylene film for use during the day.
The calculated situation is an average biogas power plant with an electric power of 700 kW. In order to get a better energy efficiency of the power plant, the basic load is set to 30% of the maximum load of a single glass greenhouse without energy screens.
With the useable reject heat amount of 650 kW in December, the greenhouse size can be set to 5279 m2.
