Abstract:
Pea pears (Pyrus betulifolia, P. calleryana, P. fauriei, and interspecific hybrids) were evaluated as alternative pollinizers for 'd'Anjou', 'Williams' and 'Golden Russet Bosc'. Following controlled pollinations, fruit set, fertility index and fruit weight were determined at harvest.
Results of this study suggest that pea pears have high potential as pollinizers for European pears in the Pacific Northwest, USA.
