EFFECT OF ROOT PRUNING, PROHEXADIONE-CA AND THEIR COMBINATION ON GROWTH CONTROL, RETURN BLOOM AND YIELD, IN A 'BLANQUILLA' PEAR ORCHARD

Authors:   L. Asín, P. Vilardell
Keywords:   Pyrus communis, Regalis, growth control, vigour control, shoot reduction
Abstract:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the separate and combined effects of root pruning and Prohexadione-Ca strategies. All three strategies reduced shoot length in comparison with control trees. Root pruning increased return bloom in one experiment, while Prohexadione-Ca reduced it in another experiment. The combination of root pruning with Prohexadione-Ca produced the least shoot length, increased return bloom in comparison with Prohexadione-Ca and produced similar yields as the control.
