ISHS Acta Horticulturae 80: Symposium on Growth Regulators in Fruit Production

INFLUENCE OF SEEDS ON THE RIPENING OF APPLES AFTER HARVEST

Author:   D. Côme
Abstract:
The number and location of seeds in apple fruits affect their storage behaviour. Yellowing of stored apples is most intense in those with a high content of seeds. The amount of water lost by fruits after 4 months storage is inversely related to the seed number. In fruits having one half withered there are fewer seeds in the withered portion than in the unwithered.
