Abstract:
On peach cv.
Marygold, spraying with 5000 ppm SADH and related compounds at the stage of rapid initial growth reduced shoot length by 4–18% and encouraged earlier and more uniform fruit ripening.
The most effective results followed an application of an SADH-Ethrel mixture sprayed at stone-hardening.
This gave only 6.5% unripe fruit at harvesting, compared with 11% in the control.
Succinic acid at 2000 ppm showed results similar to those of SADH.
