Abstract:
Air blast applications of gibberellin A4A7 plus benzyladenine (BA) increased yield of "Delicious" apples.
Application rate was critical, 1402–1870 l/ha being optimal.
Three methods of yield response measurement and prediction were comparable, indicating that previously reported (Unrath, 1974) random sampled fruit weight increases were indicative of true yield increases.
Comparisons of 0 and 1402 l/ha treatments showed a definite shift in size distribution toward larger fruit.
Grower-applied GA4-7 + BA applications using 1402–1870 l/ha resulted in consistent yield increases over a 4-year period.
