ISHS Acta Horticulturae 80: Symposium on Growth Regulators in Fruit Production

ETHYLENE EVOLUTION AND ABSCISIC ACID CONTENT IN ETHEPHON-TREATED PEACH FRUIT (PRUNUS PERSICA (L.) BATSCH)

Authors:   G. Costa, G.C. Martin
Abstract:
Andross peaches sprayed with 300 ppm of ethephon showed decreased fruit growth within 24 hrs. Notable amounts of ethylene (ETH) were evolved from the surface of treated leaves and fruit while large amounts were evolved internally from the fruit. These levels of ETH had only a modest effect on fruit abscission and no effect on ABA level.
