ISHS Acta Horticulturae 80: Symposium on Growth Regulators in Fruit Production

CROP CONTROL IN APPLE BY 2-CHLOROETHYLPHOSPHONIC ACID

Author:   S. Schmidt
Abstract:
Trees of Golden Delicious and Carola given one or two applications of ethephon at 150 and 300 ppm, each year from 1972 to 1975, showed no check to vegetative growth, but 300 ppm induced increased bud formation. Flower-bud production on heavily-cropping trees was stimulated by two applications at 150 ppm. This resulted in a reduction in annual variability of cropping, but the overall yields for the 4-year period increased only slightly.
