Abstract:
The complete removal of fruitlets from part of the tree with CEPA applied just before the June drop is proposed as a possible alternative to overall chemical thinning.
It is shown that, on upright cordon trees, this can increase fruit size on the unthinned portions of the tree and improve return bloom.
Such a technique would enable greater precision to be achieved in the proportion of fruits removed.
