Abstract:
From 1970 to 1977, following small plot experiments, farm-scale trials were made at sites with different environments (Kecskemét, Kutas and Nyirgyulaj) on the pear cultivars Arabitka, Bosc kobak, Clapp kedveltje, Hardenpoint winter beurré, Téli esperes and Vilmos Körte.
Gibberellic acid (GA3) was applied at 5, 10, 50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm during full bloom.
Treatments under conditions favourable for pollination, and also on frost-damaged flowers, showed:
- reactions to GA3 differed between cultivars
- fruit setting and market value of fruits were improved only after treatment of frost-damaged flowers
- parthenocarpic fruits developed after GA3 treatment.
