ISHS Acta Horticulturae 794: II International Symposium on Improving the Performance of Supply Chains in the Transitional Economies

A CASE STUDY ON HUMAN PRODUCTIVITY IN AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVES OF KERMANSHAH PROVINCE, I.R. IRAN

Authors:   Z. Farshadfar, M.M. Jowkar
Keywords:   conscience, labour productivity, management, motivation, payment
Abstract:
Labour and human resources are the most important factors influencing agricultural production in the developing countries. In this case, we study 7 factors impacting on the productivity of labour in agricultural cooperatives within Kermanshah province, I.R. Iran. Results indicate that each of the variables tested in this study: education, motivation and conscience of the employee, management system, payment system, cutting corners and discipline affected labour productivity. In order to indicate whether variables had similar effects on labour productivity, a multiple comparison was carried out. Results confirmed that all variables had a similar effect on labour productivity. Spearman's rank correlation was then used to see if our variables could substitute for each other to evaluate the productivity of labour. Results show that we can readily measure changes in the payment system and then substitute that for more difficult to measure variables such as motivation and conscience.
