Abstract:
Memecik cultivar, which has the highest olive tree source in Turkey, has many good characteristics for table and oil uses.
However, late fruit maturation characteristic of this cultivar generally creates drawbacks at harvest seasons.
Under the framework of a national crossbreeding program, this cultivar has been crossed with some cultivars having early maturation and good fruit quality characteristics.
In this paper, the first findings are presented on the promising twelve individuals selected out of 268 Memecik × Gemlik reciprocol crosses for their some fruit quality characteristics, yield performances and early darkening tendencies.
