Abstract:
This research investigated degree of compliance and examined factors on compliance. Also, it shows the basic data of further study about what these factors influence on achievement of therapeutic effects. In this study, a horticultural therapy (HT) experiment was performed on patients with brain lesion who had been admitted to or visited for treatment the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Dankook University Hospital located in Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. As independent variables, factors of subjects and their caregiver were surveyed. The factors concerning the subjects surveyed include demographic characteristics, medical condition, and socio-economic characteristics. Factors concerning caregivers surveyed include caregivers' relationship with patients, and their gender, age and educational level. By gender, when the client was female, degree of compliance was higher than male with significant difference (p=0.005). In the event of spontaneous brain lesions like cerebral hemorrhage and high motor capacity, the degree of compliance with the instruction was found to be high, but this was not statistically significant. By the type of payment of medical expenses, there was no difference between subjects' own payment and others' payment in the weakly compliant group. In the highly compliant group, the number of subjects who paid on their own was a hefty 7 (70%), but this outcome was not statistically significant (p=0.650). In the event that spouses were the subjects' caregiver, their degree of compliance was high, but this outcome was not statistically significant.
