Abstract:
In order to clarify the actual situation as regards establishing a community through horticultural activities at the rooftop gardens of housing complexes, we conducted an attitude survey with a questionnaire targeted at the gardening club members, their families, and the other residents who were not members.
It was concluded that the residents who do not have membership in the gardening club can be divided into the persons who want social interaction and those who do not want it.
The persons who want it tend to have willingness to join the club.
In addition, it was found that the non-members have poor interest in the gardening club and have difficulty in getting access to the rooftop garden.
On the other hand, it was found that the gardening club members want both self-fulfillment by maintaining mental health and finding pleasure and social development through communication with other residents.
In addition, they derive satisfaction to a great degree from being club members.
