Abstract:
To promote horticultural therapy (HT) as a complementary therapy for people living with cancer, the Horticultural Therapy and Cancer Networking Group was initiated during the Annual Conference of the American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA) in 2003. Recently, a research program has been developed at Kansas State University to investigate optimized HT interventions to improve quality of life in cancer survivors.
This paper reviews the current status of HT for cancer survivors in the United States, and presents a support group research program being pilot-tested for feasibility and effectiveness.
