INHERITANCE OF PETIOLE COLORS IN AGLAONEMA

Authors:   S. Wannakrairoj, P. Linla
Keywords:   genetic, oligogene, epistasis, progeny, modifying genes
Abstract:
Aglaonema is a long lasting indoor plant suitable for most interior conditions. The plant has four major petiole colors; viz. pink, white, brown and green. Segregating population from six interspecific crosses was made for inheritant analysis. The result indicated that oligogenes with epistatic effect controlled the petiole colors. Modifying genes are also involved in the color expression.
