Abstract:
It is more recognized at present to use organic agricultural food to decrease harmful chemicals in the environment. Pollution is increasingly spreading into the soil, water and air. Fatality rate is increasing, day by day, due to consuming poor quality of food and vegetables that are produced from poor environment. Consumers, therefore, demand healthy organic food free from GMOs, inorganic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and synthetic hormones. Bran obtained from rice is an abundant and excellent source of natural vitamin B-complex. There is no process in Thailand to extract natural water-soluble vitamin B-complex due to the instability of rice bran and the low price of synthetic vitamins. However, more natural vitamins are needed because they are more absorbable into the body than the synthetic vitamins. This research is successful in increasing yield of rice bran- sourced natural vitamin B complex (16-18%), with the vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12 contents of 14.06, 2.28, 19.03, 2.25, and 9.26 mg/g syrup, respectively, and is higher than the yield of 6-7% stated in the US Pharmacopoeia.
