Abstract:
The cultivar Judia currently corresponds in Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro region, to the highest production of chestnut.
For this reason, we studied eight different areas occupied with chestnut in this region with the aim to find out which is the best Judia genotype trying to associate the caliber to the quality.
The study began in October and all the samples were weighed.
All the good chestnuts (without rotten, wormy and doddering) were counted.
Several parameters were only measured for the good chestnuts and for all of them all the leaves were picked at the same height.
In spite of the study focusing on the same cultivar, the results demonstrate significant differences among the several areas under study.
