NURSERY BEHAVIOUR OF FRUIT TREES PROPAGATED BY "IN VITRO" CULTURE

Authors:   Ph. Boxus, M. Quoirin
Abstract:
Nursery behaviour of trees issued by meristem culture is followed since 1973 for some species (Prunus Accolade, P. Pandora). Since 1974, the first M 26 and P. Cerasus, cv. griotte de Schaerbeek, issued by propagation " in vitro " are compared among themselves No mutation or abnormalities were observed.

Production of the first stoolbeds established with the M 26 microplants shows a good rooting of layers.

Elimination of virus diseases were observed by some Prunus. Media for meristem culture were already described (Boxus et Quoirin (1974) for Prunus, Quoirin (1974) for apple rootstocks). Addition of 1ppm BAP at basic media gave good propagation media. Nevertheless, our media don't give always sufficient rooted plantlets as it seems it is possible with the Abbott and Whiteley (1976) or Jones and al. (1977) media.
