ISHS Acta Horticulturae 78: Symposium on Tissue Culture for Horticultural Purposes

MASS PROPAGATION OF FICUS LYRATA

Authors:   P. Debergh, J. De Wael
Abstract:
Ficus lyrata is normally multiplied vegetatively by cuttings. Maintaining the motherplants is very expensive; one square meter of glasshouse surface necessitates ± 10 U.S. dollars only for energy supply. Our intention is to propose an alternative system for vegetative multiplication by in vitro techniques in order to limit to the extreme the very expensive glasshouse surface needed for growing mother plants.
