Abstract:
Callus formation could be induced from leaf discs of Prunus mahaleb on a modified Murashige and Skoog's medium.
Callussing began from the leaf veins after 6 days in culture, after 12 days the first roots emerged from the explants.
Three different types of callus were observed, roots differentiated only from one type.
Different light conditions were tested.
In the dark no root formation took place.
To induce shoot differentiation from the three different callus types in subcultures did not succeed.
In comparison with leaf disc cultures of three further Prunus species, only Prunus mahaleb regenerated roots in the primary culture.
