INFLUENCE OF ORGANIC PRODUCTS INCORPORATION ON RECONSTITUTED ANTHROPOGENIC SOIL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Authors:   C. Grosbellet, L. Beaudet, V. Caubel
Keywords:   organic matter, anthropic soil, carbon fractionation, porosity, structural stability
Abstract:
In order to study the evolution of added organic matter in controlled conditions, we worked with three types of organic products. Each was incorporated in 20% or 40% by volume in a loamy soil, and then incubated at 28°C and 18% humidity during 55 days. Before and after the incubation period, we compared the carbon granulometric fractionation, and we showed that there was a physical fractionation of the carbon. The porosity decreased during the 55 days, but the image analysis highlighted the pore space reorganization. The tests of structural stability was rather inconclusive.
