| Abstract:
The importance of the lemon crop in the Mediterranean basin, and the degradation of lemon surfaces by different reasons justify research on fruit quality of lemon cultivar Verna, according to the requirements of consumer markets. It is believed that the use of rootstocks, interstocks and new crop’s technologies with the ‘Verna’ fruit will result in more production with better quality that will help to recuperate the losses currently occurring to market. The trees with double grafting are more productive and produce better quality fruit (better size and peel quality). Therefore in the present work, an analysis of lemon quality was realized coming from tree with different rootstocks and interstocks. Commercial parameters and mechanical properties have been determined, as well as the susceptibility to injuries and postharvest changes. Market quality standards have been considered for the studied cultivar, ‘Verna’. Previous studies show that the interstock type influenced the changes of the parameters (loss of weight in storage, citrus color index and resistance to compression). The differences are bigger between treated fruits with a clear separation among treatments. | |
