Keywords:   rhizome, tissue culture, Zingiber officinale Rosc.
Abstract:
High yield of ginger was obtained from rhizome induced by tissue culture. Plants grew more vigorously in rhizome induced by tissue culture than Korean native ginger by home seed production. Efficient rhizome production was achieved when rhizome induced by tissue culture were transferred to cultivation under rain shelter. The rhizome fresh weight per plant was above 2 times that of Korean native ginger. The rhizome induced by tissue culture, compared with Korean native ginger, was more efficient in producing 486 g FW per plant more than that of Korean native ginger. These results demonstrate the efficient propagation of rhizome induced by tissue culture in producing normal rhizome in ginger plant.
