Abstract:
Fruit Research Institute, Čačak, now called the Fruit and Grape Research Centre, has released many plum (Prunus domestica L) cultivars. A total of 12 plum cultivars have been developed so far. The most renown cvs. Are 'Čačanska Lepotica', 'Čačanska Rodna' and 'Valjevka'. This paper presents a detailed description of cv Krina. ’Krina’ was named and released in 2005. Its tree is vigorous, relatively resistant to low temperatures, and tolerant of sharka disease. This is a self-fertile cultivar, that flowers early and ripens in the second half of August. The fruit is small to medium large, roundish-ovate. The trunk diameter ranges from 29.5 – 34.2 cm. The skin is medium thick, reddish to purple blue, with moderate bloom. The flesh is yellow, firm, juicy and sweet. The stone is small, compact, free. Its share in the fruit weight amounts to 5.02%. Soluble solids concentration (SSC) of the fruit flesh varies from 21.5% - 24%. The fruit are used for fresh consumption and various forms of processing. Some cultivars produce high quality prunes.
