| Abstract:
The Sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) gene bank in Iasi, Romania, contains 548 genotypes. About 125 genotypes have been used as parents during the hybridization projects of 1981 to 2004. Nine cherry hybrid elite cultivars were selected from the biological material obtained through the hybrid combinations experimented between 1999 and 2001. Five new cultivars ‘Cetăţuia,’ ‘Maria,’ ‘Cătălina,’ ‘Golia’ and ‘Marina’ were released and other four were proposed to be named and registered. | |
