Abstract:
A total of 180 chilli pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) accessions, of which 160 were newly introduced from Vietnam, were evaluated for resistance to bacterial spot caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria for 2 years from 2005 to 2006. Five accessions collected from Vietnam (KC995, KC997, KC1006, KC1015, and KC1027) showed moderate resistance to bacterial spot.
Lines showing hypersensitive reaction or better resistance than known sources such as PI163192 and PI271322, were not found, but the moderately resistant lines performed well in the field conditions in Korea.
