Abstract:
‘Napoleon’ is a seeded table grape variety with black berries and very vigorous plants.
It is native from Murcia Region (Spain). It usually shows a defective colour in the berries and a decrease of yield produced by a high crop during the previous year.
In this work we test the effect of Paclobutrazol (PB) on grape quality and yield (differentiation of buds into fruits) of the next harvest of ‘Napoleon’ variety.
This product was applied by fertirrigation during the vegetative growth; the applied doses were: 1.0, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mL/plant.
The results show that the application of PB increases the size of the berries, reduces the colour of the berries and its anthocyanin content.
The application of this product has also reduced the length of shoots, and it has also increased the number of bunch per stem in the year next to the paclobutrazol application.
The greatest effect was when the high doses were applied.
