ISHS Acta Horticulturae 751: IV International Symposium on Rose Research and Cultivation

ABCDE MODEL FOR WILD ROSE (ROSA RUGOSA THUNB. EX MURRAY) FLORAL DEVELOPMENT

Authors:   S. Matsumoto, H. Fukui
Keywords:   floral identity gene, MADS-box, MASAKO
Abstract:
The great variability in flower morphology is an important characteristic of modern-day roses. Until now, many floral organ identity genes including the so-called, A, B, C, D and E classes of homeotic genes have been cloned and characterized from many plants. Here, we summarize the rose class A, B, C, D and E MADS-box genes involved in flower development as compared with those genes in Arabidopsis.
