CHROMOSOME BEHAVIOR DURING MEIOSIS IN LOQUAT

Authors:   C.Y. Li, W.X. Wang, S.Q. Xiang, G.Q. Gao, X.L. Li, G.L. Liang
Keywords:   Eriobotrya japonica, pollen mother cell, cytology
Abstract:
Meiosis of PMC in loquat (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl., cv. ‘Longquan No.1’) was normal and synchronous in each anther. Stages were associated with morphology of buds and anthers. Bouquet-shaped chromosomes were formed in zygotene, but in diakinesis, most of the chromosomes formed bivalents which were in rod, V, O, heart, and dot shapes. In diakinesis univalents (0.98%) and tetravalents (2.94%) were observed. A few laggard chromosomes were observed at anaphase I.
