THE QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE CHARACTERISTIC OF CHAMOMILE, MATRICARIA RECUTITA L., FROM EXPERIMENTAL CULTIVATION IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF SOUTH BANAT

Abstract:
Results of the two year investigation of chamomile growing on different soil types were analyzed. The highest yield of chamomile in both research years was achieved on location of Starčevo (Serbia) on chernozem with signs of gley in loess, and the lowest on location of Ivanovo (Serbia) on marsh dark soil. Yield of chamomile from parcels of Starčevo location was higher by 12.2% compared to location Ivanovo. The highest content of essential oil, expressed in percentages, during both investigation years was also realized on location of Starčevo on chernozem with signs of gley in loess, and the lowest content of essential oil was on location of Ivanovo on marsh dark soil. Content of essential oil on Starčevo location was by 6.3% higher compared to results obtained on location Ivanovo and by 17.8% higher compared to results obtained on location Dubovac (Serbia).
