Author:   S.V. Lapa
Keywords:   biological control, bacteria, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli, Shigella sonnei
Abstract:
Under lab experiments, the biological active bacteria, Bacillus subtilis UKM 5009 strain was added to a soil samples artificially contaminated with the most harmful bacteria, Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli, Shigella sonnei. These cultures and the control, without Bacillus subtilis were incubated for 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, 60 and 90 days at controlled conditions of 24°C and 60% R.H. After 20 to 30 days of incubation the number of harmful bacteria, CFU per gram of soil was not detected.
