DISEASE RATING OF PAPAYA CULTIVARS TO PAPAYA RINGSPOT VIRUS IN MALAYSIA |

| Abstract:
Thirty one papaya cultivars were screened for resistance to Papaya ringspot virus type P (papaya infecting) under glasshouse conditions. No complete resistance was found among all the papaya cultivars tested. However, the cultivar ‘Cariflora’ was found to be tolerant to PRSV-P. This cultivar had the lowest disease score of 1.55. The disease incidence for the cultivar was also lowest as compared to other cultivars tested. The prospects of incorporating virus resistance into Carica papaya are discussed. | |
