ISHS Acta Horticulturae 738: International Symposium on Biotechnology of Temperate Fruit Crops and Tropical Species

PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF SHOOT REGENERATION FROM LEAF EXPLANTS OF IN VITRO CULTURED SHOOTS OF THE APPLE ROOTSTOCK 'M.9'

Authors:   M. Höhnle, G. Weber
Keywords:   Malus × domestica, medium optimisation, propagation
Abstract:
Tissue cultures of the apple rootstock ‘M.9’ (clone T337) were initiated from shoot tips actively growing in the orchard. Among sucrose, sorbitol and glucose carbon sources tested in the propagation media, sorbitol (3%) or glucose (2%), respectively were effective. Adventitious shoot formation was investigated using cut leaf segments of in vitro propagated shoots as explants. The regeneration capacity of ‘M.9’ would be favourably influenced by sorbitol.
