EFFECT OF NAA, FLOWER BUD THINNING AND PRUNING ON CROP REGULATION IN GUAVA (PSIDIUM GUAJAVA L.) CV. SARDAR

Authors:   J.P. Tiwari, S. Lal
Keywords:   cropping pattern, PGR, shoot pruning
Abstract:
Six treatments, namely NAA 600 ppm and 800 ppm, flower bud thinning by hand, one leaf pair and two leaf pair shoot pruning and control, were carried out in the first week of May. All the treatments significantly reduced the rainy season crop and subsequently increased the winter season crop. Maximum yield was obtained during the rainy season with control followed by two leaf pair pruning. In the next winter season, all the treatments gave significantly higher yield than control. Maximum yield (88.00 kg/tree) was recorded with one leaf pair pruning during winter season. Overall yield during both the seasons was maximal in control (110 kg/tree) however, due to good quality fruit during winter season, higher income was obtained with the treated trees as compared to control.
