ISHS Acta Horticulturae 734: VIII International Symposium on Plum and Prune Genetics, Breeding and Pomology

AMINO ACIDS CONTENT IN THE FRUIT OF SOME PLUM CULTIVARS AND HYBRIDS

Author:   D. Ogasanović
Keywords:   domestic plum (P. domestica L.), amino acids
Abstract:
Over a three-year period, the total amino acids content was studied in the fruit of the following 10 domestic plum cultivars (P. domestica L): ‘Stanley', 'Pacific', 'Agen 707', 'Wangenheims Frühzwetsche', 'Požegača', 'Čačanská Lepotica', 'Čačanská Najbolja', 'Čačanská Rodna', 'Čačanski šećer' and the hybrid I/III/13. Sixteen different amino acids have been found in the plum fruit mesocarp. The average total amino acids content in studied cultivars accounted for 416.0 mg or 0.4% of fresh fruit. The share of aspartic acid (41.2%) and glutamic acid (10.5%) was predominant, totalling 51.7%. The average content of essential amino acids accounted for 116.3 mg or 27.9% of the total sum.
