Abstract:
This paper describes the pomological characteristics of two new plum cultivars developed at the Fruit and Grape Research Centre in Čačak. These cultivars belong to the group of cultivars for table use. They have been named and released in early 2004, as a result of a long-term study under different agroecological conditions. 'Boranka' is an early cultivar, resistant to sharka. The fruit is medium-sized, greenish-violet, roundish-long, with heavy bloom. The flesh is yellow, juicy, of refreshing flavour. It ripens 7-8 days later than 'Ruth Gerstetter'. 'Timočanka' is mid-early cultivar, tolerant to sharka virus. The tree is vigorous to very vigorous, with wide, dense crown. The fruit is large, roundish-long . The skin is violet-blue, with heavy bloom. The flesh is yellow, firm, juicy, of excellent acid-sweet flavour. It ripens in early August, a few days later than 'Čačanská Lepotica'. It is tolerant to sharka.
