Abstract:
Suitable planting time selection and growth period adaptation especially in potato tuber development with optimum temperatures besides providing water and thermal necessity lead to increasing yield, quality retain and blocking of second growth. In this investigation 25 years meteorological data was reviewed and estimated beginning and ending date of 4, 8, 12 and 16°C occurrence. Two years experiments were conducted in RCBD based split block in 3 replicates. Five potato cultivars (Draga, Agria, Sante, Marfona and Ditta) arranged in vertical plots and five planting dates (PD) [4-8°C (March 29th –April 8th), 8-12°C (April 8th -May 4th), 12-16°C (May 4th-May 23rd), June 5th and July 1st] arranged in horizontal plots. Combined analysis of variance showed that there was a significant difference in planting date at tuber yield (TY), tuber weight and number per plant (TWP, TNP), plant height (PH) and cash yield (CY). The effect of cultivars and cultivar×planting-date interaction on TY, TWP, TNP, PH, main stem number (MSN) and CY was also significant. The highest TY obtained on June 5th and May 10th (12-16°C) PD, 24.53 and 22.82 tons per ha. Agria and Sante with 30.14 and 21.49 tons per ha showed highest TY. The highest TY in April 9th (4-8°C) and May 10th (12-16°C) belonged to Agria and Sante, in April 21st (8-12°C) to Agria and Draga, July 5th to Agria and Marfona and July 1st to Agria. Correlation between TY with TWP, TNP, PH, and CY was significantly positive.
