Abstract:
This study was conducted to study faba bean yield and growth predictability using CROPGRO legume model. Measured data were compared to the predicted data. The field experiment was carried out at Dakahlia Governorate; and included twelve treatments representing the combination of four faba bean varieties (Giza 717, Giza 461, Giza 643 and Giza 3) and three planting dates (October 15; November 1 and November 15). The CROPGRO model was run with weather data (daily maximum and minimum air temperatures; total solar radiation), soil data and experimental data for the four cultivars in order to predict growth and yield component. The results indicated that: 1- Sowing date in November 1 increased the yield of pods and seed yield. 2- Predicted data were in harmony with observed data in all treatments for physiological maturity date, seed yield and pod weight. Generally, it could be concluded that CROPGRO legume model could be used to predict yield and growth of faba bean under Egyptian conditions.
