Abstract:
The present study was conducted during the period 2000-2003 at the Institute for Plant Genetic Resources (IPGR) in Sadovo, Bulgaria.
A collection of 31 well known canning determinate tomato accessions, exceeding in productivity the standard cv.
Bella, were taken from the national collection and tested.
The collection was characterized by 18 traits.
The mean values and the variation range, limited by min and max values, were calculated for each trait.
Information was obtained about the genetic remoteness of the collection tested and the relative influence of each trait involved, established by using cluster analysis and principal component analysis (PCA). The analyzed traits and the results obtained allowed not only to characterize the accessions studied, but also to make trait selection for practical and breeding purposes.
