AFFORESTATION TRIAL WITH DIFFERENT VARIETIES OF THE ALMOND SPECIES IN THE FORESTLANDS OF THE KURDISTAN PROVINCE - FIRST PHASE.

Abstract:
In this experiment 12 cultivars of Almond (Amygdalus communis) were studied, based on Randomized Complete Blocks Design (RCBD) and four replicaties. The experiment was conducted in Rikhalan station of Marivan city through three years (1996–1998). The results shows that in spite of there were significant differences between Almond cultivars for survival percentage parameter but there were no significant differences for height and diameter performance. According to the results, the highest percentage of survival belonged to the following Almond cultivars: 1. A – 5 (Sanandaj 1) with 47.15% 2. A – 7 (Marivan) with 45.74% 3. A – 2 (Sanandaj 2) with 45.00% The above cultivars were introduced to the second phase of the trial, which aims to investigate the survival and growth of the cultivars at forest plantation scale.
