Abstract:
Embryogenesis in vitro involves embryocultures, somatic and gametic embryo formation (andro- and gynogenesis). On the basis of our findings, we can define phenomena and requirements common for both embryogenesis in situ and embryogenesis in vitro.
Those can be summarized as follows: a) auxin plays a key role in embryogenesis – it seems that under influence of auxin the embryogenic determination of cells takes place, b) result of the polar auxin transport is a globular structure with full competency for correct organogenesis and the right polarity, c) right polarity is the basic requirement for an asymmetric cell division that is very probable a universal mechanism for realization of the embryogenic programme, d) right osmotic conditions have to be set in cultures, e) cells with an embryogenic competence have to be in a close physical contact.
The embryogenesis in vitro ends up with formation of a bipolar structure – embryo – prepared to form a complete new plant body.
