Abstract:
This paper reports a sequence of a complex research programme in the field of improvement and genetics of the apricot tree. This programme started in 1986 within SCDP Baneasa. It’s aim was to induce the genetic variability of the quality features of apricot for the F1 and F2 descendants, back-cross and mutants V2. The standard phenotypes presented in the paper are: ‘Dacia’, ‘Excelsior’, ‘Comandor’, ‘Olimp’ and ‘NJA 19’. The results led to several conclusions that could be a subject for a new apricot breeding programme. In support of this was the fact that the levels of dry matter and vitamin C increased within the generations back-cross, F2 and mutant V2, compared with the standard phenotypes used as genitors and their F1 hybrid generation.
