VARIABILITY IN THE CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF BLUEBERRY GERMPLASM

Authors:   P. Mladin, GH. Mladin, E. Rudi, M. Radulescu, C. Mutafa, A. Hororoi
Keywords:   accession, cultivar, selection
Abstract:
The objective of this study was to compare blueberry genotypes in terms of berry chemical content for the selection of the most valuable genotypes as initial plants for the breeding program. Blueberry quality of 47 accessions, including old and new cultivars, specific and interspecific hybrids and advanced clones was evaluated by laboratory during 1990-2002. Under Romanian ecological conditions – temperate climate and podzolic pseudogleyed soil (low acidity pH = 5.8-6.0), chemical content differed among genotypes and years.
