Abstract:
Under certain growing conditions, the first pairs of leaves below the flower bud on carnation become necrotic just prior to full bloom.
The plants appear normal in other respects.
The cause of this disorder is not completely understood, but more than one factor may be involved.
Low K status may be the cause under some conditions, or toxicities may also be involved, but organisms are not a likely cause.
