Abstract:
In this work an attempt was made to model the general trend in the concentration changes of some primary metabolites (sucrose, sorbitol, fructose, glucose and starch) in ‘Conference’ pear fruit of two distinct orchards.
A model structure of minimum complexity was considered and investigated to capture the general evolution trend of each metabolite.
Attempts were made to link the dynamics of metabolite conversion and accumulation with enzyme activities during fruit growth and development.
The proposed model describes the dynamics of sugar changes well, and differences in sugar changes in pear fruit of different orchards can be analysed quantitatively based on the model parameters.
