Abstract:
Walnut (Juglans spp.) is a difficult genus to propagate, either by conventional nursery procedures or by tissue culture.
Vitrotech produces walnut plants by tissue culture since 1996, which have been planted out in different orchards around the world.
In the present paper, the behaviour of different cultivars planted out in four orchards located in Portugal (Cano and Riba Tejo) and Spain (Ronda and Calasparra), with soils ranging from marginal to highly fertil, including very calcareous and very shallow.
The orchards have been manged by Sudoeste Recursos and the excellent behaviour of the trees in all different conditions is remarkable.
